Goals for 2017

I wish I could say that 2016 has been one hell of a year, but I feel like I haven't really accomplished much of anything this year. My biggest accomplishment was moving out and starting a life of my own in Georgia. Unfortunately things haven't turned out like I thought they would (more on that later) and lately I've found myself second-guessing that decision.

One of my goals for 2017 is to start being confident in the decisions that I make and more importantly, follow through with what I say I'm going to do. I have a tendency to back out of a lot of things I set my mind to and that's definitely something I want to change this year.

There's sort of a love/hate relationship with new year resolutions and to be completely honest, I usually forget about mine about two weeks after I make them.

Last year's resolutions (you can find that post here) were pretty simple- learn as much as possible, live a healthier lifestyle, continue to pursue my dreams and develop my personal style. The only two that I didn't really work on were living a healthier lifestyle (because Chick-fil-A is life) and developing my personal style (I'm still working on this, but I feel like I'm getting closer to figuring out what I like and what I don't).

This year I've decided to come up with a few personal goals that I'd like to achieve over the next year instead of resolutions.

I am terrible at budgeting. I am terrible at saving money. This has been one of my biggest struggles of my adult life. I hate having to use credit cards and ask my parents for money. My goal for 2017 is to become financially independent in the sense that I'm not constantly struggling to make ends meet.

The last couple months have been tough. I've learned that it's extremely hard to be alone and that I'm the type of person that likes having other people around to lean on. Taking a solo trip would allow me to realize that I can do things on my own and that I can create my own happiness.

I hate going to school. If the field I wanted to go into didn't require a bachelor's degree I would definitely not be in school right now. I've always been one to slack off and not really take my classes seriously. I have a pretty heavy class load this semester, so my goal is to make only A's and B's in my classes. I know I can do it, it's just a matter of buckling down and taking the time out to study!

I used to read a book or two a week and I miss it! Reading is such a great way to relax and I have a feeling I'm definitely going to need some of that this year. I have a ton of books collecting dust on my bookshelf, so I figured now is the best time to start reading through them!

I know, I know. Everyone says this. And everyone says they mean it. But I'm so sick and tired of feeling like crap everyday. I know what I need to do to get to where I want to be and I'm finally at a point in my life where I can dedicate time to working out and eating healthy.

I am terrible at time management. I am late 99% of the time and I don't even know I do it. Like I genuinely don't know why it takes me so long to get ready before I go somewhere. My goal is to start getting up early every morning and planning each day out, making sure I go through my to-do list and checking everything off for the day.

I've been slacking on here a lot lately. I let life get in the way and put my blog on the back burner. My last goal is to keep up with the blog and publish at least two posts a week. I was publishing a post everyday at one point, so this is a goal I know I can reach. I just need to keep pushing and motivating myself to create new content!

Wow, that was a long post. If you're still reading- thanks for sticking it out. You're the reason I keep my blog up and running and I'm so thankful for you!

What are your goals/resolutions for 2017? How many of your 2016 resolutions did you keep?
